  • We visited The Lakes Distillery earlier today and had a really terrific experience. Our tour guide Evelyn was very knowledgable and provided us with a great tour. The tasting was lovely, with a sample...  more »
  • A fantastic experience for any whiskey lover or indeed total novice like me. My husband loved it from start to finish (particularly the finish of the tour as you taste!). The buildings are beautifully...  more »
  • We visited the Lakes Distillery for dinner. It's a lovely spot but lacked ambience although it was Sunday at 6:15 pm. It was quite pricey but the food was very good. It's very nicely done and must be ...  more »

  • After reading mixed reviews, we were a little apprehensive about booking a meal here for our 35th wedding anniversary at the ‘steak night’ last night. We consoled ourselves that, even though the prices were high; at least we would have a tasty gourmet meal, that would justify the price. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case at all. To try a good sample, we each ordered different starters, steaks, and side dishes. Although the portion sizes weren’t too small, as other reviewers had experienced, there was nothing about the meal to justify the pretentious high prices, neither taste or quality. We were both left extremely disappointed with our meals, and didn’t enjoy any of it at all. In fact, were left with a horrible ‘oily or greasy’ aftertaste. We could have had a nicer meal elsewhere for a third of the price, and won’t be repeating the experience any time soon
  • The tour was excellent and very interesting. We got to taste the blended whisky, the gin and the vodka at the end of the tour and I can honestly say that they were all superb. The gin is one of the best I've ever tasted. We will definitely be back to try the malt when it's ready. A highly recommended experience.
  • During the time spent touring Cumbria,it was highly recommended by my host that I should come here, since they have experienced having a very nice meal .This was to be my special treat to myself, for the whole tour,so price was not a issue.to my displeasure the overall experience was unacceptable. Not much of a greeting when you arrive from the poorly lite carpark. Ounce your seated you get to appreciate the decor,as being quite nice, with all the smiles coming from the waitresses, who seem to lack any direction, and worst to come by the commis waitress who tells you, you'll have to wait until the rest of the restaurant is served a morsal of bread, whilst serving the main, which didn't even arrive in the end.lovely touch being offered to everyone a complimentary cocktail or mocktail, mine didn't arrive, until I reminded them,by that time the bill was on the table, since only part of my order went through. This place has so much potential,if only the staff where properly trained, and the chef realise that a beautiful presentation for a piece of cod for £18.00,should be served piping hot.
  • Very nice Staff and Tour, the Distillery is very young so it will still take time until they can sell their own Whisky. However, the Gin and Vodka are great!
  • lovely surroundings, interesting tour, excellent food and the gin is first rate.
