Learn more CAMP COCONUTS REVIEW ONLY - 2017: Do not book your kids into Camp Coconuts Play holiday club in the Barry outlet. Why? We have sent our two children to the Camp Coconuts half-term/summer holiday clubs before, probably 3 or 4 times over the last few years. So, why the 1 star rating? Neither of my kids wanted to go back again after attending only two days of the 2017 spring half-term session. When asked why, my 9 year old daughter said a few interesting things that stood out: "they put us in a little room all day and don't let us play in the main area" "there is nothing to do" "they just look at their phones all day" "we count the hours till home time" I asked the staff about this. What really surprised me was that Camp Coconuts kids do not have any access to any of the play equipment in the main soft-play area at the facility during the normal day time (10am-5pm). Camp Coconut's policy says that this is for health and safety reasons. According to the staff at Camp Coconuts the kids should never integrate with the other children who are playing in the facility's main playing arena. The kids who have access to the great climbing equipment are only those that pay to come in on the day (i.e. none of the Camp Coconuts kids). I have seen the Camp Coconuts "facilities" and it amounts to a small room, with no windows. Painted white. There are some toys and games to play. But not much. We told Camp Coconuts that we thought their service was sub-standard & that we had expected the kids to have access to the main play area. The staff's response was a physical shrug; They also verbally acknowledged that their "fun garden-outside area" amounted to a mud pit and that it had no toys for the kids to play with, anyway. Overall Summary: In my view, without access to the main soft-play area, sending your kids here on a holiday camp for more than a few hours a day is probably a bad idea. There is, literally, nothing for them to do. They will get bored quickly. Admittedly, it's a relatively cheap service. But if you want your kids to be stimulated, happy & properly entertained then my advice is to look elsewhere. If you are still in doubt, please check with the manager about exactly what they have planned for the kids on a given day/week. Ask for a timetable. Make sure they stick to it. Ask your kids after each visit (don't ask the staff). This review has been posted by a concerned Dad who doesn't want other parents in the South Wales region to have a similar experience of Camp Coconuts. It does offer a very basic care package for bored kids in the school holidays, but it could do a lot more to enrich that experience in my view.
  • Really disappointed with coconuts holiday camp. The staff were friendly and did some nice crafts with them children, but they were shut up in a windowless room for 8 hours and apart from an hour in the soft play area before it opened to the public they didn't get to play on equipment at all, apparently for 'health and safety" reasons...
  • Nice big play area and lots of seating. Can get a bit expensive if you want food as well.
  • Annoyed drove over as I had limited with my daughter due to work, and based on your website advising opening hours 10-6 but you close at 5. Doesn't sound like much but simple things like advertising the correct opening times make a massive difference
  • Good soft play, not so good food.
