Wildlife Area Historic Site
Enjoy a stroll through gardens and parkland set against the backdrop of a historical mansion at Wentworth Castle Gardens. Wander through the 24 hectares (60 acres) of formal gardens and encounter the various styles of garden design, characteristic of the periods that the garden has been in existence. Highlights include an early 18th-century Union Jack Garden and a Victorian Flower Garden. Amble through the Wentworth parkland and discover local wildlife. Look out for the herds of Red and Fallow deer, which are free to roam across much of the estate. Follow the Monument’s Trail to see Queen Anne’s Obelisk, the Duke of Argyle’s monument, and more. There is a regular program of guided walks in the parkland and gardens. Rest your legs in the cafe, which serves hot and cold food. • Pleasant enough. A work in progress. Almost £7 for about 90 mins to get round. Follies were interesting but the gardens have a way to go before they are finished. Conservatory is nice but not a patch on the one at the Horniman museum in south London. I'm glad I went,I enjoyed it, but would find it hard to recommend this unless you live locally-don't make a special visit to the area.
  • Nice place to visit for a quick walk.. Entrance of £6.95 is a bit too pricy I think for what you really get.. Would be great to have a bit more activities for kids...
  • Absolutely beautiful although its free entry to the park for northern college students. The college is fantastic too. Well worth a visit.
  • We had our dog with us so couldn't go in the official gardens but there are lots of lovely walks free of charge around the gardens. Just had to pay the £3 parking. But the house and gardens did look lovely
  • Expensive entry charges. Poor refreshment facilities. Gardens looking sadly neglected. Was a disappointment. Pity.
