Grab a surfboard and prepare to hang ten at Bantham Beach, considered by many to be one of the best beaches in Europe. The beach, with dunes carved by the river creating a classic beachbreak style surf that attracts a surfing crowd, is privately owned by the village. Waves range from 0.6 m (2 ft) to 3.7 m (12 ft), but the shallow sandy bay lends itself to swimming and paddling appropriate for the whole family. At low tide, the beach reveals shallow sandy pools and rock pools, particularly good for young visitors. The area is favorable at all tides with a sand seabed, a southwestern swell, and a northeasterly wind. Pets are allowed, and the surrounding landscape yields plenty of trails for exploring. Bantham Beach Reviews
So much to offer on this beach. Huge area. When the tide is out lots of little streams to make dams. Great surfing, life guards, little cafe truck and pizza truck. A great British beach. £6 to park yo... more »
Fantastic dog-friendly beach. It's a bit of a tramp over the dunes to the dog-friendly portion but when you get there it makes it completely worth it! Situated alongside the river, the beach is a lot ... more »
Absolutely log this beach, the dog area is massive and the water is crystal clear. It is a little sun trap surrounded by hills. more »
The new location for Tribal Clash, I got to spend a couple of days at Bantham competing. A beautiful beach, flat sandy beach which allows shallow paddling for the kids. While I didn't get to enjoy the beach too much, my wife & kids who were there loved it. There's also a lovely clean tidal creek to walk along & explore. You'll be hard pressed to find a better beach...and if you are doing Tribal Clash...you won't be disappointed!!
Great beach. Massive when the tide is out, ideal for hoofing a football/frisbee around on. Great food & coffee from the Gastrobus in the car park. Surf also great, boards + wetsuits can be rented on the beach for £15 an hour. Burgh Island is a great spot to kayak round.
Great beach, often has good surf, lots of parking. Has lifeguards and a very food van that is often parked up. The beach itself is sandy and of a good size, even with the tide in.
Lovely beach, plenty of sand even at high tide, loads at low tide stretching round to the estuary. Dog restrictions apply during the summer, except by the estuary where they are welcome all year round.
Wonderful stretch of beach with Burgh island in background . Well above average caravan for food ...cake esp nice . Sloop inn up the road is quaint and friendly .
