  • This is quietly tucked away as you go out of town. More people should appreciate this little gem a friary. Mostly to upset the golfers who look most put out by your existence.  more »
  • Very interesting place to visit of the history of people of Ballycastle. Special site just for those in the battles and great wars.  more »
  • Walk through the historic Franciscan Friary! Follow in the footsteps of the Black Nun Julia McQuillian who was savagely murdered and is said to haunt the grounds to this day! Spare a prayer for her so...  more »

  • SHORT REVIEW: Great historical in a lovely setting. LONG REVIEW: The location of the Friary is well signed, and you can see it from the roadside. Walking up to the Friary there are a number of information boards, showing a plater of detail about the history of the building. It's incredible that it is still here, and shows what life was like hundreds of years ago. The remains of the Friary are very interesting, with the cellar being able to be viewed. There are a number of gravestones being dated as recently as the 1880's (considering this place was built in the 1400's). It really is a place of history which has to be seen in person to be experienced.
  • Stopped here during our trip in Ireland. A definite must see if you are in the area! It is a completely free attraction on the side of the road. We had the place completely to ourselves. Great place to take in all of the history around you.
  • Wow what a lovely place! Really interesting history and ruins. Parking for a couple of cars only. We got chatting to a local who happily informed us of a 'ghost' that haunts the place.....yeh right we thought....until our camera started glitching and the battery mysteriously drained from full in a certain part of the ruin!
  • Lovely old ruins with golf course around it,
