Aysgarth Falls, Aysgarth

4.6
#1 of 10 in Nature in Yorkshire Dales National Park
See why Aysgarth Falls have attracted painters and poets for more than two centuries. These cascades stretch over 1.6 km (1 mi) along the scenic River Ure. A worthwhile attraction year round, the falls’ volume is even more impressive after rainy weather. Enjoy the scenery with a walk along well-marked trails, surrounded by plant and animal life. Visit the St. Andrew’s parish church and its ample grounds in the nearby village of Aysgarth then stop in a country pub. • Brilliant easy walk to 3 different levels of waterfalls, car park £1 per hour, toilet close by and coffee shop/cafe close. Picnic benches by the top waterfall which is a nice view.
  • Beautiful series of waterfalls linked by an easy path. National Park car park at the Visitor Centre can get busy, however, there is a cheaper alternative at the old station which is just beyond the railway over bridge.
  • Beautiful place!! We had lunch at the mill tearoom, such tasty food lovely place. My husband had the ham, pork pie, cheese and salad, ham was so soft and tasty, good portions and reasonable cost too. Recommend!
  • Well worth a visit. Make sure you also have a snack or meal at the local cafe
  • One of the nicest 'hidden' locations in the north, in my opinion. The upper falls are impressive but it's definitely worth the little extra walk to the mid and lower falls. It's quite easy to follow the signs and helpful maps to find the lower falls and on a busy day you'll probably be able to follow the steady stream of people doing the same. Be sure of your footing as you can get incredibly close to the edge, which makes it one of the most appealing spots I've ever been to.
