Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web
With its majestic architecture, antique furnishings, immaculately kept gardens, and seaside location, Culzean Castle and Country Park serves as a fine example of 18th-century high living. The Marquess of Ailsa used to live here, and today you can freely explore the castle and its surrounding grounds. On your self-guided tour, take in views of the sea from the round drawing room and check out one of the world's largest collections of swords and pistols in the armory. Outside, view the stone grotto and fruit-filled greenhouses of the walled garden and stroll along 4.8 km (3 mi) of beach. The castle is one of Scotland's best places to watch bats, and you can also see a range of other wildlife along Happy Valley woodland trail. For a deeper look at the other historical buildings and sites dotting the grounds, sign up for a ranger-led tour. We have all so done camping at the camp site at the entrance of culzean castle which have been great holiday's as you can have so much time to explore culzean. It's all ways sad to leave.
  • Serene and beautiful!! Must visit for amazing views around sun set. Castle itself is OK.. There are better ones in Scotland but the park and the rest of it is amazing
  • one of the best places! it doesn't feel like you re in Scotland anymore, but in a Spanish city (especially if it s sunny) loved it
  • Great day out during the easter holidays with the kids. There was an activity sheet for them to fill out on the way round the castle, also trying to locate lego figures in each room, which gave the adults time to take in all the detail. Welcoming staff from the castle to the cafe and the shop. Loved the new play area too, recommend for a family day out. Lovely place.
  • Wow! Wish I had more time there, only had enough time to see the Castle. The staff were very friendly, helpful and very eager to answer any questions. What beautiful sights and history combined.
