  • While everyone rushes to Stonehenge there are other, free prehistoric mysteries in this area. Silbury Hill is an artificial chalk mound near Avebury which you can easily walk to from the Avebury Natio...  more »
  • Stands just beside a road so very easy to view from a viewing point without having to take the walk from the expensive car park.Therefore makes it accessable to all.Its amazing to think it is so old ....  more »
  • This can be viewed only, you cannot walk up it. But it is strange and lovely. English Heritage signs explain it's creation and archaeology.  more »

  • It's a hill, and you can't even go up it! The viewing location and car park are good, but it's best seen part of a day at Avebury and the surrounding area. it can be reached from Avebury on foot, as part of the walk to the barrows.
  • Shame you can't go up it but nicely set in the stunning area.
  • Although not legally not allowed to climb the mound, many do and no one does anything... worth a visit
  • Iteresting place, shame you can't climb the hill. Well worth a visit and to the surrounding area.
  • Mysterious to say the least. It's a shame that you are not allowed to walk on it.
