  • As a staple of Ashington and it's people, this is one of the best ways to find out about Ashington's proud mining heritage. Not only is it a day out for the young, it is also a calm and relaxed enviro...  read more »

  • The kids always have a grate day!! Loads todo and see. I would like to thank you to the man who drives the train to QE park. He has gray combed back hair. I can not remember his name.He is an amazing man. Very kind and genuine. He really did make our visit! He took the time to talk to us about engines and trains and our children loved him and he's story's. I will honestly say we will never ever forget him and wish him well. He is definitely a gem of Woodhorn musiam!
  • Very fun and educational for the kids. They would get bored after a few visits but there are always different exhibitions and evens on to keep them entertained time and time again.
  • visited with friends on Sunday 27th Sept 15, beautiful sunny day, hundreds of other visitors. Excellent experience and glad to see the memorial poppies on display. Friend who is a retired miner was moved by the displays and brought back lots of memories for him Keep up the good work P.S the post code NE63 9YF does not take you to the museum.
  • Lovely cafe with home baked goodies, great free mining museum and lots of local interest information leaflets, plus access to a beautiful country park complete with miniature train- a wonderful day out for all ages.
  • A small but excellent trip back into time, with plenty of information. There's plenty of parking, but I recommend driving past the entrance for half a mile and parking in the hotel carpark (free and perfectly allowed), this way you get to walk along a lovely nature trial.
