  • The Clan Donald estate was our main reason for the visit to the Isle of Skye and the assistance from Maggie in the Library was of great help. Everyone we met who worked there was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were great, we didn't see them all as we were limited with time but what we did see was great and well maintained. The museum was interested especially if you have a McDonald or similar background and the information was well presented. The stables restaurant served up a nice meal at a reasonable price, we didn't try the cafe but it's run by the same people so should be similar. If you're on the Isle of Skye this is well worth a visit even if you have no interest in the Clan Donald but to see the old castle and beautiful grounds. The entry fee is discounted or included in your activity if you are attending an Armidale Activities err activity - which I strongly recommend you do! Visited September 2014
  • This is the seat of my family's clan. I am a little bit biased, but the castle and grounds are beautiful. Much better than Dunvegan castle. Food and drink at a good price and very tasty. If you are a MacDonald, it is a must see. Everybody else should check it out as well.
  • Great place to visit, the grounds are lovely, great outdoor play area for kids, well worth a visit
  • The castle ruins and the walking paths were a great find and a nice escape from the crowds of tourists on Skye.
  • Good service and great grub. Hot smoked salmon salad was good. Large fish and chips cooked to perfection.
