  • Great road to cycle, steady climb but don’t do it against a head wind. Looking back half way up is a stunning view even in the rain and mist.  more »
  • We have done this is in a car once and in a motor home twice - I am a bit of a wimp so I sat in the back and only looked out when we stopped at the top. The views are amazing. I personally wouldn't....  more »
  • We did this route from Applecross to Strathcarron the first time then 3 weeks later going the opposite way. I have been on more scarier roads abroad so I don't really understand why people have been....  more »

  • If you love to drive and want to try something different then this is one that should be on your list of drives. Amazing scenery and breathtaking views along the route but not for the faint hearted with its narrow steep roads and tight hairpin bends. For the experienced driver, beginners be warned.
  • Unlike many other reviewers, I'm giving the Bealach Na Ba viewpoint 4 stars instead of 5. Here is my point of view: Well, if you are an adventurer by nature, someone who is full of adrenaline and you have no fear of heights whatsoever, then by all means make that trip through the huge mountain high up to the viewpoint. But if you are flinched from a wild adventure then spare yourself the headache. To be honest, the viewpoint for itself on the very top of the mountain, is not that amazing as I was expecting, especially after such a long hazardous drive up the mountain. Don't get me wrong, the viewpoint is beautiful but it's not amazing. Personally I had more enjoyment from the actual drive on the steep and narrow road to the viewpoint, than from the viewpoint itself, while on the road itself the view was even more spectacular than the from viewpoint above. With that being said; you should be aware that the drive up and down the mountain to the viewpoint and back is quite dangerous. The road is very narrow and tortuous and in most cases without any fences or proper railing. Our vehicle (range rover) was actually wider from the road and take in consideration that this is a two way drive. I myself was enjoying the tension and the adrenaline taking me over while driving that road up to the viewpoint. but I believe that it isn't for every one and certainly not enough just for the scenery that you get to see on top at the viewpoint itself. The way up and down the mountain is really amazing and breath taking.
  • Great cycle climb, not as hard as you may think. Carry on the ride from Applecross round the coast and back to Bealach Cafe for an unrivalled cycling experience and don't forget your camera.
  • View is excellent. Drive very carefully and try not be there at night. Or when weather is adverse. It is very windy . The road does not have any marking and narrow.
  • A good place to visit if you like views. Was windy up there. The road is quite hairy to drive up.
