  • Well worth stopping off and taking a detour - the church is amazingly preserved and dates from the 900s, the castle from the 1100 - so quiet and tranquil, far from the madding crowd! 
  • Anice area to visit have a picnic and chill out and its free !!! worth a visit on ahot sunny day and when the mist shrouds the building... awesome! 
  • Interesting but unspectacular ruin of a fortified Manor house. The surrounding area is beautiful, including the small nearby church which is worth a visit too.
  • Beautiful, small ruins of a castle near a viaduct in a scenic valley. Free to visit.
  • Nice place to visit
  • At the end of a short lane lies the St John the Baptist Chapel, with a tiny parking area which would start to get crowded with 3-4 cars. Through a gate is a path, just short of 1/4 mile long which heads down to the ruined castle. A few information signs give background information about the castle. To the south is a stream which runs down to a nice view of an aquaduct. The path only serves the castle and so its a return journey straight back to the car. If your in the area this is well worth stopping off for a break to look at
