  • We were on holiday in Aldeburgh, and the visit to the Red House was one of the main highlights of our time there, being great fans of Britten's music and life story. The warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere created by the staff and volunteers was memorable. They explained that a party was due so we would not be able to have a guided tour that day, but we were given vouchers to return within a year. We then thoroughly enjoyed walking around the gardens, studio and library. We are returning on holiday in May, so it's no surprise that the Red House is on our agenda.
  • I did two days research at the library for my undergraduate dissertation. It is an inspiring place to visit and the staff were wonderfully kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The grounds are lovely. I visited in December and the sun was shining even then! Lovely.
  • Do a tour of the house if you're in the area. Need to book in advanced. Great time capsule of the artists house as they lived in it. Even if you're not interested in Britten or Pears, there's great artworks on the walls and a beautiful home to look around. They have a shuttle bus from central Aldeburgh, and some nice footpaths and cycle paths leading to the site.
