  • Went in to buy bottle of 12 year old Aberlour Whisky which was £2 cheaper than the supermarket price. Also bought some minatures which you cannot get from Supermarket. Also tasting visits as well.
  • The tour itself is very good, with enough history about the distillery itself to complement the traditional "how whisky is made" aspect. The tasting at the end of the tour included 6 whiskies, and was...  read more »
  • We had booked in advance already a tour with a whisky tasting, which is also recommended, since only a few visits take place on the day and these are often fully booked. As far as I know there are guided tours in English only. Without a tour visiting the distillery also makes no sense, because you can't see anything and there is no freely accessible areas in addition to the small shop. Our guide could explain much and tell. The tour is interesting and you can see pretty much. In contrast to the nearby Glenfiddich Distillery visit everything was smaller and not quite so perfectly explained here but a number. You get not so many insights into the production as at Glenfiddich. A clear advantage at the Aberlour distillery is but the whisky tasting: You get to try whisky of different degrees of maturity and understands it well the background. There is also to taste whiskies which were stored only in Sherry barrels and those that only in Bourbon barrels. As a result, you learn the influence of barrel varieties on the taste. Moreover, the whisky tasting in a "venerable Hall" is held. Because everything fits together easily! Therefore my clear recommendation: visit Aberlour distillery AND Glenfiddich Distillery!

  • Very detailed Distillery tour. At the end you have the opportunity to tap yourself into a bottle from a burbon- or sherry cask. Highly recommend!
  • Visited Aberlour distillary around 6 years back ( around 2009). The tour was very informative and interesting. The best part was our tour guide Julienne. He has amazingly good sense of humour and he is very spontaneous. I still remember his jokes and the insights of the business that he shared with us candidly. We had a great time at Aberlour distillary because of Julienne.
  • I heard good stuff about their tours, so we wanted to go as well. Sadly there are just 2 per day and you need to book ahead for days to get a spot. The staff and the tiny shop were really nice though and offered good prices.
  • The Aberlour Distillery is a fairly modern distillery which offers tours around the plant (two per day at 10am and 2pm). I have done many distillery tours and there was nothing particularly exceptional about this one with the usual story of the process being told. However, when it comes to the tasting at the end you don't get something a little different. Firstly, a taste of the new made spirit followed by five other drams including two 16 year old single cask malts which were very impressive. Be careful if you are a driver, these are strong whiskies so wait until the end of the day to get back into your car.
  • The Aberlour visit was a great experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer all kind of questions we had. The distillery is very modern and there was no real cachet from the infrastructure (the reason why I give it only 4 stars). We finished the tour by an impressive tasting with 6 whiskies which included the spirit (non matured whisky fresh from the steal), a first for me and also an interesting experiment before tasting the matured ones. The visit is the most expensive we had so far but include 6 whiskies!! (£14)
