Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Aberdeen

4.6
Situated on the historic Shiprow in the center of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Maritime Museum tells the story of this maritime city and its rich history. Built in converted historical buildings, the museum offers spectacular views of the harbor. Enjoy interactive exhibits on fishing techniques, and even get the knack of how to park your ship in the harbor. Learn about the city's relationship with "North Boats," the offshore oil industry, the history of shipbuilding, and fast clipper ships. Entry is free and the museum is a good rainy-day activity. Furthermore, the museum provides a service on maritime objects and paintings, offering advice on potential value. If you drive, parking on Shiprow can be expensive, so park in a nearby shopping center and walk to the museum instead. Photography requires prior permission, so ask beforehand. Everything's almost about the oil industry of the area. The building is interesting and has lovely views onto the harbour. I was expecting more so it slightly let me down.  more »

The Maritime Museum explores the history of the port of Aberdeen and the city with the sea, with great emphasis on the oil industry. The information is complete and submitted in such a way as to appealing and sometimes interactive. It's worth taking a leap by visiting Aberdeen (admission is free) and enjoy the view over the harbour.

This visit is planned in the program of our tour operator, great idea. It is an effective way to supplement the knowledge of the city of Aberdeen is the European capital of offshore oil, it's a good opportunity to discover the world of oil platforms, which is a complex technology. This museum is perfect to learn more and in a playful way, and in particular on the part submerged and so invisible. the facility. Worth several visits to soak up the topic.
