Situated on the historic Shiprow in the center of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Maritime Museum tells the story of this maritime city and its rich history. Built in converted historical buildings, the museum offers spectacular views of the harbor. Enjoy interactive exhibits on fishing techniques, and even get the knack of how to park your ship in the harbor. Learn about the city's relationship with "North Boats," the offshore oil industry, the history of shipbuilding, and fast clipper ships. Entry is free and the museum is a good rainy-day activity. Furthermore, the museum provides a service on maritime objects and paintings, offering advice on potential value. If you drive, parking on Shiprow can be expensive, so park in a nearby shopping center and walk to the museum instead. Photography requires prior permission, so ask beforehand. • A fantastic museum for those interested in fishing, harbour, or the oil industry. The museum has multiple item packed floors. Many of the museums attractions are also interactive and are great for keeping the kids entertained and learning exactly how things work. The cafe stairs provides a perfect place to relax and has very friendly staff. You can even get sandwiches or hot meals.
