Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Aberdeen

(4.6/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Situated on the historic Shiprow in the center of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Maritime Museum tells the story of this maritime city and its rich history. Built in converted historical buildings, the museum offers spectacular views of the harbor. Enjoy interactive exhibits on fishing techniques, and even get the knack of how to park your ship in the harbor. Learn about the city's relationship with "North Boats," the offshore oil industry, the history of shipbuilding, and fast clipper ships. Entry is free and the museum is a good rainy-day activity. Furthermore, the museum provides a service on maritime objects and paintings, offering advice on potential value. If you drive, parking on Shiprow can be expensive, so park in a nearby shopping center and walk to the museum instead. Photography requires prior permission, so ask beforehand. • Free entry and very interesting exhibits, information on whaling, wars, fishing, the oil industry and renewable power. Well worth a look around, nice cafe with tasty buttries too.
  • What a great place this is! Incredibly interesting, with a great deal to learn and experience. I went with my son and my dad, and all three of us found something to pique our curiosity.
  • The staff were helpful and very informative. Whilst the Museum is free entry, we did as we always do, leave a generous donation as its the right thing to do. The bonus was a toy display on show for a short period of time which was trip down memory lane for me. A Grandstand games console was amongst the display which i had in the 80's...
  • A fantastic museum for those interested in fishing, harbour, or the oil industry. The museum has multiple item packed floors. Many of the museums attractions are also interactive and are great for keeping the kids entertained and learning exactly how things work. The cafe stairs provides a perfect place to relax and has very friendly staff. You can even get sandwiches or hot meals.
  • A good little museum I've grown up around with interesting historical information, paintings and exhibits of the fishing and oil industry of Aberdeen and North East of Scotland. Good café with friendly staff and a nice little souvenir shop. 10 out of 10.
