Textile Souk, Dubai

3.0
#31 of 73 in Shopping in Dubai
Survey the rainbow of colorful fabrics on display at Textile Souk. Cotton, embroidered fabrics, and raw silk are among the various cloths found at the market. Decorative extras to adorn outfits, such as buttons, lace, and sequins are also in abundance. Even if fabrics aren’t your thing, consider taking the water taxi to the market, which gives you panoramic views of the surrounding neighborhoods. If you do take a taxi, remember to negotiate; prices are rarely static. Plan my trip to Dubai with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • Clearly it is addressed, but you can say yes no or just continue to run if you want to buy anything. We were in a small store Shop No. 1 India textile and the two vendors were funny fellows. Also non-intrusive, so we bought a few things with them and were so happy. It's also Arabia and one is talking and is and is friendly... Children are also very kindly recorded and addressed

  • This a great place to walk around BUT you will be hassled until breaking point where you walk away just so you don't have to confront another pushy vendor. I started with being annoyed and then after ...  more »
  • Go to the souks is to know Dubai and its people. The Souk of fabrics is strikingly colorful and quantity of things that are, if they see you interested in something, you can't calm. Everything has a price is negotiable of course... they have the art of offer you things and you can get them for much less with patience... Very typical, is worthwhile. You have to walk it!

  • Traditional bazaar-style shops that showcase a wide variety of Arabic, Indian and oriental clothing with wholesale options. Additionally, one also finds a variety of spices, traditional incense and handicrafts from a bygone era. Be warned though: One needs to be a savvy, street-smart shopper with a knack for bargaining and conversant in local language (Arabic, Hindi, Urdu etc) in order to make the best deals ;)
  • This place is best reached from Al Ghubaiba Metro stationhardly a a 10 minute walk. Clothes are a bit expensive. Beware of the agents and trollers around, they'll try to trick you into buying copies of original products. Beware when u buy and haggle a bit for the price offered. They quote prices normally around 30-35% higher than what the normal.market rate would be. Sometimes even upto 50%. So just beware and use your bargaining skills and probably you could.get a great deal.
  • I loved it.. Felt like being in the Arabic world mentioned in the history books or Aladin cartoon :)
  • A good place for business people. Wholesale fabrics in good prices
  • Turkish clothes , angami sellers ! At old Dubai ! Don't miss the boat ride to deira city

Where to stay in Dubai

Dubai is a city of hotels, with most of the world's leading chains represented. Rooms remain expensive and luxurious, as most establishments cater to visitors with deeper pockets. You can still save money on accommodations if you look hard enough. Move away from the coast for more affordable backpacker hostels and self-service apartments, as well as less expensive hotel rooms where a lack of luxurious amenities and less appealing views keep rates suited to budget travelers.
