Meena Bazaar, Dubai

3.6
#9 of 94 in Shopping in Dubai
Tear yourself away from the glitzy modernity of the downtown area and experience a more traditional shopping experience at Meena Bazaar, a market offering goods from across the Middle East and South Asia. Travel down the winding side streets to explore the full range of stalls, and look for Pakistani stores with traditional clothing, Iranian spice stalls, and "ten dirham" shops selling affordable electronics and homeware. Make sure to haggle so as to get a good price for what you find. Planning Dubai trip won't be overwheling when you use's Insprock itinerary maker.

  • The images were more like an open-air feeling. Did not think normally lined up next to the accessory shop just had so much watching the fun. Near the entrance to the world's largest ring. That's about it I guess.

  • Amazing place to shoppe if you are on a budget but want to buy something in souvenirs or accessories or dry fruits or chocolates or perfumes. Clothes nothing even close to average, the malls are the best bet for that. But other stuff yes worth a try for the cheap bargains.
  • Home away from home for the Indian subcontinent population. Best place to buy gold and traditional clothes. Wide array of restaurants to choose from. Accessible to the creek, abra, metro makes this place pocket friendly. An enriching experience!
  • Well if your looking for asian clothes in Dubai, an equivalent of Green Street in London then this is the place to go! You'll need your negotiation hat on but that's some of the fun of it. A lot of the guys will offer you fake handbags and watches etc but just politely say no. The shops open at 4pm until late, taxis are generally more difficult to get hold of around here due to the traffic, there is a metro station in walking distance. There are a number of eateries in the area.
  • Excellent place to buy perfumes, handbags and first copy branded watches.. but be careful as not all sell good quality stuff.. be prepared to haggle/ bargain a good price..
  • Good place for shopping at cheap rates. Beware of fraudsters roaming in the area. I was recently mugged by a guy trying to help me buy herbal oil for my hair growth. You will get cheap gold, iPhones and chocolates. Must visit

Where to stay in Dubai

Dubai is a city of hotels, with most of the world's leading chains represented. Rooms remain expensive and luxurious, as most establishments cater to visitors with deeper pockets. You can still save money on accommodations if you look hard enough. Move away from the coast for more affordable backpacker hostels and self-service apartments, as well as less expensive hotel rooms where a lack of luxurious amenities and less appealing views keep rates suited to budget travelers.
