Karama Market, Dubai

3.2
#13 of 74 in Shopping in Dubai
Experience a bustling shopping district at Karama Market, a collection of independent vendors and stalls lining a lengthy pedestrianized street. Full of textiles, leather, replica clothing, and souvenirs, this market represents an alternative to the pristine, sprawling malls of the city. Make sure to haggle for what strikes your fancy, and take your time. Some sellers here can be pretty pushy, so slow things down to make sure you come away with something you actually want. It helps to research beforehand the stalls offering higher quality service and products. Karama Market is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Dubai Edition.

Bad neighborhood, not paved, but sure. For those who want to buy purses or fake watches is the place. But you have to venture out in hidden locations. For prices is an ongoing process and you never know if he bought at the right price. I have not bought, but there were people with bags full of purchases. I recommend going in the afternoon, I have been there in the evening and I had a little bit of fear but I think unjustified because I came quietly to the hotel without surprises. Go there in the afternoon although it's hot.

I have been to Dubai and could not miss the visit to Karama market, red line metro, not stop by just looking at the stores, since they do not take exposed things better. If you are looking for something signed identical to the original go with the picture of the item you are looking for and definitely I would lie. Or choose from the tablet that you provide. Then follow them without fear in Dubai are unlikely something bad can happen, safety is granted. They take you to crumbling buildings but don't hesitate within have real shops with everything you're looking for. Good buys

Friendlier option to the Deira fish market. Prices are higher but they will clean your fish for you so you know you are getting what you paid for. Also houses vegetable and fruit shops. Gets crazy busy on Fridays in the morning which means parking is a challenge. Close to the best south Indian restaurants so grab a good breakfast before getting your weekly groceries.

Where to stay in Dubai

Dubai is a city of hotels, with most of the world's leading chains represented. Rooms remain expensive and luxurious, as most establishments cater to visitors with deeper pockets. You can still save money on accommodations if you look hard enough. Move away from the coast for more affordable backpacker hostels and self-service apartments, as well as less expensive hotel rooms where a lack of luxurious amenities and less appealing views keep rates suited to budget travelers.
