Al Fahidi Fort, Dubai
(3.9/5 based on 4,200+ reviews on the web)
See another side of Dubai at Al Fahidi Fort, detailing the history of the city and its people. Located within the grounds of a former fort--built in 1787, it is the oldest existing building in Dubai--the museum tells the story of trade and development in the city before the discovery of oil. Explore the main galleries for interesting exhibits and artifacts showing the local way of life, with particular focus on the 1800s and the independent traders and seafarers that lived in the port city at the time. Enjoy walking around the life-size replicas of family homes, a model mosque, and a recreated street market. • It is a small museum, which is very cosy and well exhibited. Many exciting information about Dubai up through time. Well worth a visit and the price is very very reasonable.

  • Al Fahidi, the original fort that has been used to protect the city, is an unusual building in Dubai. It's built with bricks and straw and has a big courtyard in the middle. There are reconstructions of an ancient house (with the wind gallery), a boat and some tools. There are photos and videos explaining how life was before the discovery of oil. Spending a few hours there is a good idea. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช
  • Not a popular tourist site , but it was interesting learning the history of United Arab Emirates . I learned that uae was originally controlled by United Kingdom ( Great Britain ) just like some other Arab nations - Iraq , Syria , Lebanon , Palestine , Egypt , Jordan , Saudi , Bahrain , Kuwait , Qatar , Oman , Yemen and United Arab Emirates ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ด๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช=๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง until 1945 or later
  • One of the best place to visit and know about the history of Dubai, you can see music instruments, weapons and other day to day things used by emirathies old times
  • The museum in the Fort is good and one can learn quite a bit about the history and contemporary pre-oil Dubai. The admission fee is ver nominal.
  • Comprehensive and detailed history charted. Attention to detail. Well maintained and clean.
