Specialty Museum Museum
Visit the former home of the late founder of the nation at Al Ain Palace Museum. Built in 1910, the palace displays striking architecture, with large courtyards and tiered towers located within high palace walls. A museum since 1998, the palace showcases art contemporary to the rule of Sheikh Zayed, tells the story of his political and private biography, and details what life was like at the palace. Tour the grounds and enjoy the exhibits, which are set across multiple ornate majlis (rooms for receiving visitors). Where to stay in Al Ain

While Al Ain doesn't offer much in the way of true budget accommodations, many of its mid-range and luxury hotels are surprisingly good value. You'll find most hotels in the narrow streets of the old town, as well as some larger resorts around the fringes. Several of the city's hotels have swimming pools, which could provide welcome relief from the blistering heat. You can buy alcohol--heavily restricted throughout the U.A.E--at a few of the large hotels in Al Ain, including the Hilton and the Mercure Grand.

  • It was very interesting to look around this family home! Everyday objects and effects helped to sharpen the vision. I felt very grateful that I didn't have to use the homemade wooden ladders to access...  more »

  • Was good to see where Sheikh Sated has lived his life. It's around one hour walking tour which requires climbing big stairs, so I don't recommend it for handicapped people.  more »

  • Al Ain Palace Museum was home of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. after converting it in Museum you can still see the original structure comprised a privet residence for the ruler and his family. well maintain and preserved.
  • Very quiet, i was alone when i was looking around the site, around 6pm. No guide tour at that time...
  • Al Ain's famous Castle turned into museum. It's a very enriching place with details about the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan and his life as this castle belongs to him and is considered to be his residence place (in the past).
  • Free and so pleasant. Near to the Oasis and full of atmosphere. Great coffee for 2 aed!
  • Interesting place , you can see a lot of things about life of rulers of emirates of 20 th century. Not many people know about this place, few tourists, and enter is free.
