Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Abu Dhabi

Visit Sheikh Zayed Mosque to see a key place of worship and center for Islamic culture. Completed in 2007, the center houses the largest mosque in the country--a sprawling structure of many spherical domes and four tall minarets--and an enormous library showcasing classic books and publications related to the Islamic world. Inside the main prayer hall, admire the numerous ornamental features of the atmospheric place of worship, including the largest carpet in the world and seven chandeliers incorporating millions of crystals. Take a guided tour of the library to learn more about Islamic faith, history, and art. • How can I possibly describe a house of worship so grand? The Sheikh Zayed Mosque (جامع الشيخ زايد الكبير‎‎) was built with one purpose, to give all glory to God on high. We desperately need to surround ourselves with places that allow for worship, reflection, and closeness with our Father. I was very grateful to be able to stand in this holy place. Don't be afraid to humbly but consciously ask others to be quiet while inside. Tour groups can be so difficult to deal with. Be an example for others.
  • The most beautiful mosque that I have even visited. It is wonderful that they allow non-Muslims to tour and experience this incredible place. They have head sets that you can rent to listen to information on your own, or they offer a free guided tour in English, which offers some great insight into Islam and mosques. We went a little before sunset, which was amazing. We got to see it illuminated by daylight, sunset, and then the evening lights.
  • This is by far one of the most beautiful mosque I have visited in the world. It ls well Maintained and taken care off with attention to every little detail. It's magnificent inside and out, you need to spend at least a few hours here to soak in the beauty and the peaceful environment here. Wear proper attire. It's about a 1.5 Hr drive from dubai but it's worth the trip down, can't be missed when in the area !!!
  • This was a great day out - 1 hour drive from Dubai - 2 hours from Ajman (where we were) and very well worth it. We joined a small group and took in a few other sites and ended our day here. The Mosque is amazing - tons of gold from all over the world, white marble, an interesting history and the biggest carpet I ever saw! (shame they had to cut it up to transport it to the mosque). Very much recommended.
  • Location easy to find. Lots of parking and tourists are welcome . On the way in you have security for male and female , dress code is strict ....everyone who needs it will be provided with proper dress. Time to view will be at least 1 hour . No shoes past a certain point . On the way out there is coffee shop ....restrooms and giftshop. Tourists are arriving in the busload.

Where to stay in Abu Dhabi

One of the most expensive cities in the world, Abu Dhabi is famous for providing an unparalleled level of luxury. The modern development of Yas Island offers some of the priciest options in the city. Abu Dhabi doesn't really do hostels, but you can find some less expensive hotels in side streets less frequented by foreign visitors. Head away from the sea to find lower rates, or consider the areas south and east of the airport for simple rooms with basic amenities.
