History is always special to us! Unique place to learn how much transportation was changed over the years. I recommend to check this place out. Our 6 year old enjoyed spending time at the museum.
The tram network in Vinnytsia has been operating since 1913 and recently celebrated its 108th anniversary. Usually foreigners or Ukrainians from other cities of Ukraine, when they hear about Vinnytsia, they immediately mention its fountains, trams and water tower. I am sure that the vast majority of you rode on Vinnytsia's Karpfen and Mirage (or at least saw their photos, videos on the Internet), which the city received as a gift from Zurich, Switzerland. And in Vinnytsia, the unique "European" track width for the post-Soviet space is 1000 mm. Such in Ukraine remained only in Vinnytsia, Lviv, Zhytomyr and Yevpatoria. 6 years ago Vinnytsia also started to produce its own trams - "Vinvei". Although according to the documents they are considered as modernized Czech "Tatras", and some units have preserved some parts and parts of the body from the "Czechs". But what attracted my attention the most were the original "Tatras" - models KT-4 and T-4, because they caused nostalgia for childhood. Such trams "dominated" the streets of the city in the 1970s - early 2000s. How much I dreamed of driving such a tram and finally this dream came true. Finally, I bought a magazine dedicated to the "Czechoslovak era" in the city's tram history. The museum also has older models - the German "Gotha", a sightseeing tram (a tram made on the basis of the "Gotha", which remotely resembles the Kiev S-900) and a replica of the German "Mana", which are plying the city 100 years ago. If you want to learn more about the city and enjoy the Vinnytsia charm 100%, be sure to visit this museum and book a tour with Valery Starzhynsky or Oleg Matyukhov. I recommend!
Children and adults are delighted. We felt the spirit of tram history😉. We visited the very heart of the depot, the mechanical department.
It is very interesting to learn about the oldest public transport in Vinnytsia! The cleanliness of depots and repair shops is impressive. We thank our tour guide, Mr. Oleh, for a wonderful tour, who spoke about the history and compatibility of the tram in an accessible, and most importantly, with a heart.
