(4.6/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Sitting on a hilltop above town, Palanok Castle saw use by several royal families and was later transformed into a prison. Dating back to the 1300s, the site was once a powerful fortress; 164 canons protected it and a moat with a wooden wall ran around the estate. You can explore the castle's gardens and enter its old humid chambers on your own, or ask for a guided tour. You'll have a chance to visit the mysterious complex of underground tunnels that connect 130 rooms. On a tour, you'll hear many tales and legends about the site. There's also a small history museum at the castle. Using our custom trip planner, Mukacheve attractions like Palanok Castle can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Want to go back in the 11th century? I promise a time machine you do not need! All you need is a ticket in Castle. Another compelling reason to visit the Palanok Castle-drop-a panoramic view of the Transcarpathian region. And mountains, many mountains.

  • Palanok Castle is an outstanding historical and architectural monument, the family nest Transylvanian Princes Rákóczi. located on a mountain of a volcanic origin. in the courtyard there is a monument to Prince Fedor Korjatovichu. the legend goes that if you put Bill and rubbed forefinger, it ensures the flow of money. during the year the desire must come true. the territory itself is very large and to completely circumvent the need to not less than 2 hours. It is best to use the services of a guide, who will tell you the whole history of this fortress. who will master the climb to the top of the Castle, that is waiting for a reward in the form of a panoramic view of the beautiful city of Mukachevo! believe me, it's worth it.

  • The Castle stands on a hill, passed has breathtaking views. At the entrance you are greeted by the boys-beggars, will indicate where to park your car, waiting for pay in UAH 10:) parking near the castle itself is free. The exterior of the castle is well preserved, inside there is a small church built on money. Many halls; It is written that pass different exposure, but it was nothing of the kind-all doors closed inside. Except one: there was a photo exhibition with the ATO. There is a tasting room, but we do not even children searched for it. On the territory of 2 souvenir shops and a place where you can drink coffee.

  • Very nice castle. High on a mountain top of Muchacevo. Great overview over the city of Muchacevo. Parking space at the top at the castle is small. So better park earlier. Also there are some little shops at the castle.
  • interesting place worth to visit, at least who go up can have a amazing view to all the city
  • This historical monument is no comparison! The most beautiful view of the castle is at the entrance to the city from the Beregova.
  • Huge and beautiful castle with a couple of observation decks, which towers over the city. Lots of exhibits. Inscriptions in Ukrainian, English, and Hungarian.
  • Amazing castle I visited one morning.
