Cemetery Tourist Spot
Home to the graves of soldiers, famous figures, nobles, and a host of ornate tombs, Lychakiv Cemetery stands as one of Ukraine's largest necropolises. Visit the massive cemetery, with more than 400,000 graves, and explore its 86 different plots spread out over 42 hectares (104 acres). You can join a guided tour in order to see a selection of the most notable graves and figures laid to rest here. Don't miss seeing the plot dedicated to the "Defenders of Lwow," an ornate memorial commemorating the efforts of Lviv's young Polish defenders during the Polish-Ukrainian War from 1918 to 1919. If you want to use a camera in the cemetery, you'll need to pay a small fee. To visit Lychakiv Cemetery on your trip to Lviv, use our Lviv trip generator.

  • One of the must see places in Lviv. A park-like, huge area cemetery with beautiful architecture and special atmosphere. Around 400,000 burials are located in the cemetery, including those of prominent Ukrainian historical figures and soldiers of the recent wars. Reminds me very much of the Parisian Père Lachaise Cemetery. A couple of hours visit.
  • Worth visiting if you have time in Lviv. There's a variety of languages and gravestone styles due to the fact that Lviv was part of multiple different countries throughout history. Don't miss the grave of Ivan Franko, the famous Ukrainian poet/writer.
  • Great place worth viiting. Entrace fee for adults - 25 UAH. Take some hot tea with you if you have a "thermos flask" and maybe some snacks as well. Walk around, sit on the benches, it's very calm and quiet there. Absolutely must thing to visit when you're in Lviv.
  • I'd like to get buried here in beautiful Lychakiv Cemetery.
  • Very interesting place and great exercise to go walking & exploring.

Where to stay in Lviv

Although many visitors to Lviv stay near the relatively expensive town center, the city offers plenty of budget-friendly options within walking distance of this central district. Guesthouses and small hostels provide simple but tidy rooms with luggage storage and free Wi-Fi. Alternatively, look for mid-range hotels near public bus stops, where you'll have quick access to the major sights at considerably less cost than the centrally located boutique hotels.
