Chapel of the Boim Family, Lviv

(200+ reviews on the web)
Landmark Tourist Spot
Sitting on the cathedral square, Chapel of the Boim Family houses the remains of 14 members of the Boim dynasty. Created in 1609, this structure features elements of Polish and Italian architecture, ornamented with Dutch-style sculptures. The facade represents a solid example of bourgeois art, and exaggerated motifs adorn almost every inch of the chapel. Observe murals and fresco images depicting both people of that era and Biblical characters, and look for one wall that appears as if it was turned inside-out. Study the complex dome adornments and search for brass angel-like faces. Plan your visit to Chapel of the Boim Family and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Lviv vacation trip planner.

  • Terrific beauty inside and outside. Must visit in any case. It's little pearl of city. Taking shots is available but without flash!
  • One of 'must see' places in this city. Better to visit with guide, who can tell it full story - it's also very interesting.
  • The chapel itself is quite beautiful and worth the visit. It is a very interesting architecture style with the front full of interesting biblical/ historical figures. This kissing post right outside is also a fun photo opportunity!
  • Beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Gorgeous chapel. Lots of people coming there to get married. Don't for Ethridge walk around the outside of the chapel start enjoying the inside of it.
