(4.6/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
One of Ukraine's most extensive exhibitions, The Ukrainian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War memorializes the Soviet Union's battle against Nazi Germany during World War II and displays a host of military artifacts. Visit the museum and explore its more than 300,000 exhibits dispersed throughout cavernous halls. You'll see weapons, documents, personal effects, and a wealth of other items from World War II. The museum's most famous symbol outside is hard to miss: a 62 m (203 ft) titanium "Motherland" statue depicting a woman with a sword and shield. • The most impressive one of the Visual presentation and has a Museum of the history of the second world war presented a very impressive traces of the style. The Museum Guide reading is necessary because unfortunately they didn't add English explanation, this is too big for such a beautiful Museum minus points ... Visit

  • A popular place for kievans and guests of the city, the children of war veterans who are not on hearsay knows all the horrors of the war memorial complex includes a Museum, a monument to the motherland, on the observation deck is visible all Kiev, Avenue of the cities, sculptural compositions "Forcing the Dnieper", "arms transfers", Gallery "Heroes of the front and the rear", "fire of glory Bowl," an exhibition of military equipment and weapons. Outdoors Museum exhibited the military equipment of the great patriotic war. The exposition of the Museum is very interesting. Visit the Museum can, both individually and in groups with a guide, duration 1:30. People emotional, vulnerable will be psychologically difficult to perceive the tragedy of that time.

  • Very detailed exhibition of various objects from WWII. Worth visiting!! Unfortunately nothing was in English (or any other language then Russian)
  • For an American, this museum offers a view of WW2 that we don't see often. The Ukrainian people and Kiev in particular witnessed much of the horrors from the war. The museum tells the story of the USSR's involvement in the "Great Patriotic War" after Hitler's betrayal. Occasionally temporary exhibits of current-interest will be curated in the main hall. The museum is filled with historical artifacts as well as intriguing stories of bravery, tragedy, and loss. Absolutely worth your time to visit. Plan on spending several hours wandering through the displays. Take a translator or Russian-speaking friend if you don't know the language. They do offer tours in English but these are often monotone and dull. You will hear stories not written on the displays but they rush through with little time for questions.
  • Rare occasion to see different views of the 2nd world war and recent conflicts in Ukraine
  • It's very Soviet, and absolutely worth an hour or two of anyone's time in Kiev. The views from the feet of the statue are excellent.... Even with the slightly scary tiny elevator ride to get there.
  • Awesome if you are interested in history : it is a wonderful monument build during the soviet union, there is a museum about the second world war and also a small exposition about the Donetsk events and the revolution which occured in 2014 in Ukraine.
