The House with Chimeras, Kiev

Categories: Architectural Buildings, Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web
Originally built partly as a publicity stunt, The House with Chimeras features a host of intricate animal sculptures and a structure primarily made from cement. The brainchild of the architect Vladislav Gorodetsky, the request for concrete construction was made by the director of the building company as a way to showcase its versatility. Explore the building and view the menagerie of creatures adorning the walls, including rhinos, lions, catfish, and an array of mythical species. Because the building still hosts ceremonies and official events, it's really only accessible from the outside. • One of incredibly beautiful places in downtown Kiev. House breaks out of universal ensemble of surrounding houses. The building is in Gothic style with lots of variety of murals.

  • Walking in Kiev, you'll want to visit one of the most famous and unusual buildings in Lipki neighborhood, an area which is ten minutes from kreschatik. This House with chimaeras or Gorodetsky House, as it is often called. This House architect built on land that was purchased for a pretty reasonable price. But there was one "but"-the plot was on a fairly steep slope. Maybe for someone it is and it would be a problem, but not for Gorodetsky. He decided to build a big House not only for themselves but also to rent an apartment there. Gorodetsky was building a House for two years. So far it is striking in its uniqueness and beauty. With the top platform offers three floors decorated with fanciful shapes and elements typical of the Art Nouveau era. And if you look at it from the side of the theatre named after Franco, you see as many as six floors. Gorodetsky was a very extraordinary and passionate man, an avid traveler and Hunter. Once deciding to orchestrate safaris in Africa, which was quite expensive at the time, he donated the House, laying it. Unfortunately, after the return he could not redeem it because of huge debts. Gorodetsky's House still stands today, recalling that distant time long-bygone era, which in different parts of the world gave birth to extraordinary geniuses-Gaudi in Barcelona, Alphonse Fly in Prague, Gustav Klimt in Vienna.

  • Can be reached from the Maidan, the secret surprise for this spend "gem". Small chores for that, but it's worth it, nowhere have I seen such ornaments, very funny. No more hour program, take a look at and just sparkles, are you happy to have seen this. 5 points for me, but who bothers to make it a 5 minute fotóprogram, leave it out.
