St. Andrew's Church, Kiev

(4.7/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
St. Andrew's Church represents one of Kiev's most notable examples of Baroque religious architecture and one of its most important religious centers. Finished in 1767 on orders of Empress Catherine the Great, the church survived the destruction that plagued Kiev in the following centuries. Visit the church and admire its ornate structural features, showcasing intricate windows, accents, and sculptures, and culminating in a tall central dome. Make your way inside to view the wealth of golden molding on the walls, ceiling, and pulpit, as well as the dome's collection of murals and portraits, which display wooden carvings. Keep in mind that the church still holds services; be sure to check the online schedule for service times and features. • Beautiful church seen from the outside, but impossible to access because of outside work. It's a shame, I think it would have been possible to install a temporary access during these work lasting from October 2016

  • St. Andrew's Church in Kiev is the Orthodox Temple in honor of the Apostle Andrew; built in the Baroque style by the architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli in 1754 year at St. Andrew's Hill, which is one of the most famous attractions of Gorda Kiev. Located on the right bank of the Dnieper River, above the old part of the city — Podol. Down it goes andreevsky spusk, connecting the upper town with the bottom. The Church was built by order of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in 1749-1754 years local architects under the direction of architect Ivan Fedorovich Michurin on the spot where, according to legend, the cross was erected by the Apostle Andrew the first-called during his trip to the North. Yet this church is famous for the fact that it filmed the movie "for two hares", which is known, probably every citizen of the former USSR.

  • “The unique beauty of the temple in the city center” The Pearl Of Kiev. Very beautiful cathedral, which was built in 1754. Located on the steep right Bank of the Dnieper river, the historic part of the city — Podol. It is situated near the Andriyivskyy descent, which connects two parts of the city. It has very beautiful view during the day and beautiful lighting at night.
  • Another beautiful church, but currently under renovations. It is said that this is where Saint Andrew put down his cross and said would be a great city full of churches, turns out he was right.
  • Beautiful Baroque church with outstanding views, especially in the winter time, when the leaves are off the trees. If you are touring, this church is worth a visit.
  • Absolutely beautiful church at the top of Kiev. You must get on a tour or read up the history here as it is quite detailed. Go for mass as well for an inside look at the church.
  • Am still hear the soft piano playing while sitting at the street looking to this huge elegant building .. Beloved time
