4.4/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web
Sword and shield raised triumphantly in the air, Rodina Mat (Motherland) commemorates the Soviet Union's defense of the homeland against Nazi Germany's invasion during World War II. You can see the towering statue by visiting Kiev's World War II museum; you'll find it located nearby in an outdoor exhibition area. The titanium statue of a woman, standing 62 m (203 ft) high, represents the Soviet Union and the horrific human suffering it endured in the war against Hitler's Germany. You can hop aboard an elevator at the base and travel to a viewing platform part way up the statue for a sweeping view of Kiev. • Monument in the cloudy weather did not attend, but was very impressive. It is a modest Museum. Climb the shield is not possible because of weather and no interest because the shield closes the most beautiful view. Observation platform at the foot of the good and true. I liked the look and the monument. Thank you Kiev
