Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), Kiev

Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web
As Kiev's main plaza and gathering place, Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) has served as the site of many influential protest movements and rallies throughout Ukraine's recent history. Though the site developed as a residential area during the 1800s, the destruction during World War II caused the area to be rebuilt in Stalinist style. Visit the square for yourself to admire the triumphal sculptures and angel-topped pillar. Envision the crowds that gathered here in 1989 and 1990 at the start of Ukraine's bid for independence from the Soviet Union, in 2004 during the Orange Revolution that marked its transition into infant democracy, and again one decade later in the Euromaidan protests. • With an area of many solemn, important, significant, sorrowful and heroic events in the life of the people of Ukraine. It is already a symbol of not just the toponymic object. If you give yourself work to stop and think about the course of history, the role of the people and personalities, ... feel nastoâvšie, not movies. Dreamed to visit here and came to pass. Thank you

  • From here begins the history of our country. There are always beautiful and interesting. Required to attend! Tourists recommend to be careful with men in suits. First, they offer just sfotkat′sâ, and then require a lot of money for it. No water in summer-asphalt is heated just!
