Magens Bay, Magens Bay

Consistently ranked among the world's top beaches, Magens Bay offers arguably the most photogenic stretch of shore available on the Virgin Islands. The sugary sands and calm waves on the northern coast of Saint Thomas invite you to swim, kayak, and paddleboard. Visually appealing from every angle, the charming coastal spot enjoys the protection of its surrounding park, which offers organized camping and encompasses swathes of mangroves and wetlands. The park also contains several rental venues designed to host weddings, family parties, and other private events. The beach itself boasts picnic tables, food vendors, changing facilities, and several outfits renting water-sport equipment. • We had read about the beauty of Magen’s Bay when planning our trip on Trip Advisor. It was listed of one of the top 10 beaches in the world. We took a taxi from the cruise terminal to the beach for $1...  more »
  • The beach is clean and safe. There is a nice bar and there are bathrooms to clean and change. Very peaceful and nice to spend a leisure day at the beach.  more »

  • This was one of our favorite beaches on the island. Calm waters, soft sand, and a beautiful sunset. At one point, there were dozens of pelicans dive bombing around us in the water to get the thousands of fish. What an awesome, unique experience! Not sure how this place is doing since the storms, as we went before.
  • Well it's been about a decade since I've visited but this beach is the most beautiful that I've ever visited. It is somewhat secluded yet plenty of room. The sand is white, the water is crystal clear and extremely still. You can be in chest deep with no waves whatsoever while watching fish swim past you. I must return very soon!
  • Gentle warm blue waters of the Caribbean can be found in this very popular bay. It has a very long stretch of beach, which gives ample room for people to find the right spot and picnic, bask in the sun, and swim. Waters don't seem to get too rough here, so it is a safe place to swim, especially for kids. It's a popular tourist spot for cruise ship excursions, though you can probably find a ride there for half the price (just make sure to make arrangements for getting back to your ship if not going with the official excursion). Enjoying 3 to 4 hours here should be sufficient for most people visiting the area. Bring food and water as there don't seem to be many shops/restaurants nearby.
  • Long drive, needs some food/shops or something, and better shower/changing facilities.
  • It's been forever since we've been there, but a very beautiful beach
