Estate Whim Museum, Frederiksted

(3.6/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Gain insight into Frederiksted in the 1800s by visiting Estate Whim Museum, a colonial sugar plantation restored to reflect what life was like for enslaved Africans during the period. Slaves built the main house, slave quarters, mill, and factory complex, whose attractive colonial architecture echoes the intense work and skill displayed by those men and women. Today, tourists flock to the 4.8 hectare (12 acre) site to see the only sugar plantation museum on the islands, as well as a number of conserved colonial-period artifacts. Make reservations ahead of time if traveling in a group.
