Coral Gardens Reef, Providenciales

#5 of 47 in Parks in Turks and Caicos
Head out to explore Coral Gardens Reef, a biologically rich coral reef popular with snorkelers. Located in a national park, the reef stretches out 32.5 m (350 ft) from the coast and can be easily accessed from the eastern end of the main beach. The reef supports a large array of small fish and a few heftier sea creatures, such as turtles, rays, and barracudas. The actions of some snorkelers have forced a decline in the delicate ecosystem in recent years; make sure to leave everything where it is and don't touch the coral or fish. • A local told us to hit this place early in the morning for a snorkel with turtles. So we did. There is a reef here, close to shore with grass just offshore. We found sea turtles immediately...  more »
  • We absolutely loved this place to snorkel. The reef was beautiful. They have the reef roped off so that it is protected. You can snorkel along the rope and view. The clarity of the water is just.....  more »

  • Excellent location on Grace Bay. Somewhere Cafe very good. Reef for snorkelling in front of resort. All staff are professional and very helpful.
  • A great "family friendly" reef; there's plenty of wildlife to see in a relatively small area, making it very easy for children to do without wearing themselves out. It's in a great location to where once you're done with the reef, you can still enjoy a prestine beach.
  • The worst snorkelling locations anyone has ever recommended. Shallow, hardly any corals and fish. A large section was roped off, a local told me it was to conserve the reef, which makes sense given the condition of the parts we saw. Unless you happen to be in the area, don’t bother going out of your way to visit this.
  • The snorkeling here is amazing. Mere feet off of shore you can see sea turtles, many varieties of fish, stingrays, etc. Water was a beautiful aqua green, and was very clear. We came in December. There is a great restaurant called Somewhere next door which is worth checking out. There is a vendor nearby who rents snorkeling gear and chairs.
  • It's located just past Somewhere Cafe the reef is inside the buoys. Very simple to figure out. Park on the edges of the round about. Make sure you wear reef safe sun block...
