Turks & Caicos National Museum, Grand Turk

(4.1/5 based on 160 reviews on the web)
Learn about Grand Turk’s local and natural history at Turks & Caicos National Museum. Set inside a quaint, white, two-storey building, the museum houses items related to Cuba’s nautical history. On the ground floor, find the remains of a 16th-century shipwreck, the original lens of the Grand Turk lighthouse, and a 3D exhibit of a coral reef. The second floor is dedicated to the history of the island’s early settlers, the Taino people. Find a replica of the Taino paddle made from driftwood, which will give you an idea of what sea life was like for the indigenous population. • A lovely little museum packed with a wide variety of exhibits, all very interesting. A great way to escape the sun for a bit or to pass a brief rainy spell.
  • Yes! Stopped by Christmas Day. One of the very few places open that day. Bryan is wonderful. Gave a tour of the museum and the gardens. Definitely worth the time.
