Tolkuchka-Basar, Ashgabat

(2.9/5 based on 20+ reviews on the web)
Wander busy market streets and find anything your heart desires at Tolkuchka-Basar. The out-of-town chaotic shopping area offers everything from live sheep to embroidered clothing. Walk from one vendor to another to buy memorabilia, toys, and talismans made by the locals, but pay close attention to those selling carpets. Keep in mind that carpets older than 50 years cannot be exported, while others need an export certificate. Use our Ashgabat travel itinerary maker to arrange your visit to Tolkuchka-Basar and other attractions in Ashgabat.

  • Bazaar area is huge. On site you can buy anything you want. Modern pavilions, and various shopping areas (although there is no particular order). Price tag is lower than in the city. In addition to products/no products can be viewed on the farmyard. A good selection of souvenirs (but little shops). Feel free to haggle.

  • I was hoping to see an oriental market, had read before, it was the largest carpet Bazaar in the world. I took up modern stone building, little visiting, so nothing from hustle (= Tolkutschka). I've found only 3 carpet business. The cattle market was somewhat interesting, but otherwise, it was not worth.
