Explore diverse cultural heritage at Ashgabat National Museum of History, a white marble complex in the capital's central area. With over 500,000 artifacts divided into three sections, the pieces showcase the complex history of the country from the Bronze Age through Parthian, Persian, Mongol, and Seljuk periods to modern times. Excavations from Margiana, Gonur Depe and Nissa feature some exhibits such as ivory rhytons, weapons, jewelry, instruments, and a gigantic rug. See a collection of president's hunting trophies on the ground floor, which houses a permanent exhibition of post-independence Turkmenistan.
