Aspendos Bridge, Side

The Eurymedon Bridge was a late Roman bridge over the river Eurymedon (modern Köprüçay), near Aspendos, in Pamphylia in southern Anatolia. The foundations and other stone blocks of the Roman structure were used by the Seljuqs to build a replacement bridge in the 13th century, the Köprüpazar Köprüsü, which stands to this day. This bridge is characterized by a significant displacement along its mid-line, noticeable by looking at its ancient piers.Roman bridgeStructureThe original shape and construction of the Roman-era bridge have been reconstructed digitally, based on the extant remains of the ancient structure: the ramps, the abutments, and foundations of the piers. Several pieces of the original bridge are scattered along the river bed on both banks, and were not used during reconstruction.Originally, the bridge had a length of 259.50 m and a width of 9.44 m, and had nine semicircular arches. It crossed the river at a basic 90-degree angle, although it bent slightly on one end. The two access ramps provide information about the overall height of the structure, and the gradient on each end is similar (12.3% and 12.2%), The midpoint of the bridge was approximately 4.1 m higher than the later Seljuk structure.

  • Fabulous historic place to visit. Go early in the morning if you are walking the site as it gets very hot. Brilliant photo opportunities, gladiator on site too. Nice well equipped ship and snack bar. Wear flat sturdy closed in shoes. A must see place.
  • Maybe you are coming here to look at the ruins of the bridge, but the main thing in this place-the general atmosphere of the paradisiacal places. I was here in November. Imagine: warm weather, a gentle breeze, a herd of mountain goats, who came to the banks of the River to drink. And DOHRENA trees, totally tangerines as Christmas trees in the family of the maximalists. All tangerines, even green-delicious, sweet and seedless. I thought, I'm here to live stay!

  • Aspendos Ancient City visiting accomplished before in the first place. Especially if you go early in the morning you may be witness of the Köprüçay beauty. The bridge is restored from A to Z. Standing next to some ruins.

  • Its surroundings are broken bottles from the garbage. History has been the venue for a lot of punks. Restoration is a separate outrage. Points to the views

Where to stay in Manavgat

Despite being a prime tourist destination because of its neighboring waterfalls, the town of Manavgat offers little in the way of accommodations. Instead, consider the coastal town of Side, just 2 km (1.24 mi) southwest of Manavgat. Here you'll find many options, including four-star resorts and mid-range hotels along the sandy beaches. The cape is home to more budget-friendly options--a handful of hostels and guesthouses. Stick to the cape to be within walking distance of restaurants, while not being too far from Manavgat. The waterfalls sit directly north of Manavgat, so allow for a little more travel time if you stay in Side.
