Meryemana (The Virgin Mary's House), Selcuk

4.0
Thought to be the house of Mary, the mother of Jesus, until her death, the ancient ruins of Meryemana (The Virgin Mary's House) is now a shrine for Catholics. Travelers on a pilgrimage often make the small stone house a stopping point. Inside the chapel is an altar beside a large statue of the Virgin Mary. As you look to your right you will see the smaller room where Mary is thought to have slept. Outside the shrine is a beautiful fountain, which many believe has spiritual healing powers. Before you go, it is traditional to leave a prayer in the "wishing wall." To visit Meryemana (The Virgin Mary's House) and other attractions in Selcuk, use our Selcuk trip planner .

I felt that a power spot went in about say what a typical Japanese, so there are Christian institutions in Turkey most of the Muslims are approached in the mountains here in a Charter bus, here is very strong. There was a chair so exactly on the day of our Lady of the assumption Festival visited the altar and many people sit outside, Jane Dalma (national police) cars and motorcycles was waiting outside. I could imagine small stone house is modest in his later years of life. We have been light in places with a very solemn stand out candles candles for visits of up to (two per person) and holy water flowing spring water.

They have a beautiful place they're impossible to go without a car of Christian pilgrims, but that should be seen. Also there is a natural spring water there tastes good. ... Forget the money given at the entrance before Sandoval takes as a donation for the Church is not the municipality of it needs to be specified.

It's a little tight, you're going the path of the forest path. Entrance fee. Nature and landscape is very beautiful. It's also very nice. Due to the religious importance of gardening and visiting foreign tourists. You can light the candle or wish wish caputu. Food & drink and souvenirs are expensive.

Where to stay in Selcuk

Though its close proximity to Ephesus puts the small town of Selçuk on the map, you'll find just a handful of guesthouses in the immediate area. Many are small and family operated--and budget-friendly--and some offer free shuttles to nearby Roman ruins. For more upscale options, explore the hotels a few miles east of Selçuk in the hillside town of Sirince. For luxury accommodations, you'll have to venture farther west to the coast for four- and five-star seaside resorts.
