Where to stay in Selcuk

Though its close proximity to Ephesus puts the small town of Selçuk on the map, you'll find just a handful of guesthouses in the immediate area. Many are small and family operated--and budget-friendly--and some offer free shuttles to nearby Roman ruins. For more upscale options, explore the hotels a few miles east of Selçuk in the hillside town of Sirince. For luxury accommodations, you'll have to venture farther west to the coast for four- and five-star seaside resorts.

  • Can be done at the same time at the church ruins. Great view from the top. Currently be refurbished.
  • Worth the hike up. Strong winds, yet a good view of Efes
  • Be careful with locals. They may suggest to show you non official free entrance. But in fact that guy tried to rob us.
  • You can access the Citadel of Ayasoluk through the ruins of St John's Basilica. The cost for both is 10TL. The view from the citadel is incredible and gives an amazing panoramic view. From there you can see the city of Selçuk, İsa Bey Mosque, the ruins of the Temple of Artemis and on a clear day you can even see the sea.
  • Brilliant view
