History Museum
Journey through history and see one of the best examples of Cappadocian structures carved into the rock at Zelve Open Air Museum. The museum spreads over three mountain valleys and showcases the remains of a community that thrived from the Byzantine era into the 20th century. It was finally abandoned because of erosion. See the places where people lived, worked, and prayed and learn how they used the landscape to carve out the buildings that were both functional and beautiful. You have a lot of freedom to explore, so bring good footwear for hiking. A flashlight will also help you to see deeper into the buildings. • As this museum is further out of town it does not get the same tourist treatment/attention as its more famous cousin. Compared to Goreme this museum is more spread out and requires more stairs. Howeve...  more »
  • 2017 the Museum card or entry fee is € 10. The door also 3tl parking fee. Avanos ta way to anywhere. When you come here, places, the first being "is coming. Admire the scenic parts of gossip, you are entering into the room there looks great only üzüldüğüm our nation's insolence wrote the city names all over the place.

  • Amazing landscape. Feels so surreal, like walking around in a Dr. Suess book! Be sure to look for the funky police office in a cave by the side of the road.
  • Much nicer and quiter museum than Goreme, at least in March. Enjoyable walk between three valleys and how people lived in those caves is intriguing.
  • Wrong location, open air museum is not there
  • the rooms are not that much to look at except for some of the well-preserved frescos. in winter the amount of tourists is bearable. wouldn't want to go there in the summer though.
  • one of the best places I think I visited all the different civilizations of the Valley life. 16 years ago when I girebildigim cave and chapels are not logged for security reasons crashes happened anymore I guess.
