Where to stay in Marmaris

Look no further than the seaside town of Marmaris for an oceanfront getaway. Along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea sits a strip of busy hotels that appeal to the masses. Here you'll find all-inclusive hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts right next to shopping, dining, and nightlife venues. In this area, the better accommodation deals tend to restrict outside food and beverages, which can drive up your tab with restaurant bills and à la carte purchases. Farther from the coast in the Armutalan area, you'll find more laid-back accommodations, including moderately priced hotels. The noise restrictions in place ensure a more peaceful stay compared to the city center. Farther south along the coast, the Içmeler area offers the best of both worlds--while still oceanfront, the resorts here are quiet, thanks to their distance from the bustling city. Keep in mind that Içmeler is little over an hour's walk from the city, or a short water taxi ride.

  • We went by a nearby water taxi to the island. The island is very picturesque and historical, however loos are primitive, there was no where to get a drink or snack and you are likely to be there for a...  more »

  • Cash ONLY (Turkish Lira)!! One of the most beautiful beach in the region.
  • Good beach, but with a reserved part for the shame. People took the sand that according to the legend was placed there for Cleopatra. Now the government closed that part of the beach.
  • Lovely and calm during the slow season. Icy cold, but a grand swim. The chickens are anything but shy, so cover your picnics! Follow the trails into the trees for some awesome views.
  • Unique beach. The sand is 95% fossil fish eggs. Amazing place for a day out with great swimming
  • The most beautiful place I've ever been to. Anyone who goes to Turkey must go there. It takes 15TL per person to reach the island by boat. There's a 20TL ticket to enter the island. Make sure to take snacks with you because the food place on the island is very expensive. Take a snorkeling kit with you because the view underwater is mesmerizing. Go there at about 1 o'clock in the afternoon as the sea is very calm at that time. The tides get higher at about 5 o'clock.
