Marmaris Marina, Marmaris

4.5
A mecca for people- and boat-watching, Marmaris Marina serves more for relaxing and enjoying the weather than anything else. The water is lined with restaurants and cafes where you can take in the vast sea views and watch the yachts sail by. At night the marina is lit up and the area takes on a dynamic atmosphere. For many it is also the base for boat trips throughout the area and an ideal spot for water sports. If shopping here, be prepared to haggle and be aware that the shopkeepers are known to be quite pushy. • During our holiday in Rhodes, we took advantage of the fact that Turkey was close to take a hike and visit Marmaris. Once arrived, they directed us to a bazaar and the meeting point would have been a "shop" within this large market; the Bazaar in a nutshell. The bus then took us to a high point of the place and stopped to admire the view ... really no big deal. Then the stages were: a jewelry store, oversized, where invite you to buy gold. But we weren't there to visit the place??! We found it very ridiculous, but at least I met two nice people, who are disappointed by the excursion. We were then taken from a seller and manufacturer of a variety of things to eat and drink, where, look way of life, even there you could "freely" buy what you wanted. We had paid to see Marmaris, but since there is much (since it was born as a harbour) made us take a guided tour and conditioning to spend money. I understand that they live by that but force people to do it isn't nice. Throughout the day, however, we had some free time and before meeting again at the Bazaar to break down, we went, as recommended by locals, where the kebap, as Turkish tradition wants, tastier ... The traditional Turkish drink kebap was accompanied by ... Milk and salt! For God's sake! A matter of taste but in the end we were 4 and the drink we left it all. A word of advice: try it just out of curiosity, but the kebap do it better in Italy because it was somewhat modified to suit our tastes (thank goodness). Oh well, eat aside, disappointing trip and honestly it was better if we had stayed at sea between Sun, cocktails and relaxation ... I wouldn't go back. Hello everyone!! P.s. Stay in Rhodes which is better and don't miss the vacation day.

Where to stay in Marmaris

Look no further than the seaside town of Marmaris for an oceanfront getaway. Along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea sits a strip of busy hotels that appeal to the masses. Here you'll find all-inclusive hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts right next to shopping, dining, and nightlife venues. In this area, the better accommodation deals tend to restrict outside food and beverages, which can drive up your tab with restaurant bills and à la carte purchases. Farther from the coast in the Armutalan area, you'll find more laid-back accommodations, including moderately priced hotels. The noise restrictions in place ensure a more peaceful stay compared to the city center. Farther south along the coast, the Içmeler area offers the best of both worlds--while still oceanfront, the resorts here are quiet, thanks to their distance from the bustling city. Keep in mind that Içmeler is little over an hour's walk from the city, or a short water taxi ride.
