It is possible to grab a bargain on genuine fakes here, if you like that sort of thing. For us we just enjoyed pottering about and buying a few souvenirs, enjoying the atmosphere and fun of haggling. ...  more »

The Grand Bazaar is a very inflated prices, bought there sunglasses for 40 lire, later strolled down main street and found these glasses for 15 lire. In tents on main street, you can buy the same as and at the Grand Bazaar, but much cheaper. But if you do decide to buy something there, then don't forget to haggle, prices immediately reduce by half

The Grand bazaar is full of small shops selling everything from clothes, shoes, blankets, spices, etc. You should be aware that pretty much everything is fake and that it is possible to haggle the price down at the half. Many of the sellers are aaalt for intrusive, but we should just ignore them.

  • Great place to buy knock off brand name clothing for cheap. You have to drive a hard bargain, which is part of the experience. Going in the off season will get you better deals. Shops were mostly closed as it was off season, but some were open because there was a few Navy ships in town. Friends got reasonably priced leather goods, but you really must inspect every seam, hem and stitch. As most of the goods are imperfect copies or factory rejects. They have lots of sizes so just go through the piles until you find one that isn't missing a zipper pull or six inches of stitching along the collar. Turkish people are really nice and warm. Very hospitable, this place is great for shopping but the people make it more than great. You will be invited to sit down, drink tea or beer, have a smoke all while shopping, which In my opinion makes shopping here better than anywhere else on the planet.
  • Actually better than people tell you it is. Lots of variety and prices were reasonable. Like any other high street.
  • Great place for genuine fakes, cheap but annoying shop owners. Be sure to haggle as you can save a lot. Bought these shoes for ~50 TL
  • Great place to shop for the bargains . Watch out for the over inflated prices. Specialy when they see a tourist. Don't fall for it be firm and knock 40 percent off on high priced item's. Example I brought a jacket he wanted £120 pounds .I gave him £30 pounds for it and he still made a profit see what I mean. So haggle till you drop .walk away and you see them coming after you or just go to another shop and say the other guy was cheaper.
  • Can get some really good bargains, but a lot of heckling might be involved. Nice walk around the bazaar and quite a lot of shops in and around it.

Where to stay in Marmaris

Look no further than the seaside town of Marmaris for an oceanfront getaway. Along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea sits a strip of busy hotels that appeal to the masses. Here you'll find all-inclusive hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts right next to shopping, dining, and nightlife venues. In this area, the better accommodation deals tend to restrict outside food and beverages, which can drive up your tab with restaurant bills and à la carte purchases. Farther from the coast in the Armutalan area, you'll find more laid-back accommodations, including moderately priced hotels. The noise restrictions in place ensure a more peaceful stay compared to the city center. Farther south along the coast, the Içmeler area offers the best of both worlds--while still oceanfront, the resorts here are quiet, thanks to their distance from the bustling city. Keep in mind that Içmeler is little over an hour's walk from the city, or a short water taxi ride.
