Where to stay in Konya

The religious and conservative city of Konya can accommodate all walks of life. You'll find a handful of hostels and guesthouses for the budget-conscious traveler, all within the city core and at walking distance from the city's biggest attraction, the mausoleum. If you want something a bit more upscale, look to the four- and five-star hotels, which are also within close proximity to the attractions. Because of the focus on the religious site, inns and restaurants rarely serve alcohol here. If this presents a problem, look for the few international chain hotels which are more geared toward the foreign traveler--these tend to feature a full bar offering.

  • Turkish biggest han, built in 1229. Very well preserved impressive building. You need some imagination though to vizualize the noise, smells and frenzie when the caravans stopped here.  more »
  • Standing in one of the caravan stops near the western end on the old silk road is fascinating. The size and space of the building is impressive. You can let your thoughts go to how it was when it was ...  more »

  • Location where caravans would stop for rest and trading. Interior Mescid that you can climb up. One of the largest in history.
  • Beautiful historic place. Worth a visit!
  • Historical place. Amazing architecture.
  • One of the oldest ! Build in 1278
  • Interesting, but only worth a quick visit. You get the idea after about 10 min. The advantage of visiting this Caravanserai is that it is easy to find and not far off the highway if you want to take a break from a road-trip for a stopover in a town, and see something historical at the same time. Other Caravanserai of the old Silk Road are a little further 'off the beaten track' of its modern equivalent.
