Tarihi Asansor, Izmir

4.3/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web
Reach the upper levels of the community for expansive views of the city, the bay, and the surrounding landscape with Tarihi Asansor. The original elevator was built in 1907 and transported people and goods to the upper quarters of the city, allowing them to bypass the steep cliffs. It has since been replaced by a modern elevator, but the structure remains the same. Take it up for some great photo opportunities, or sit down for a drink and a bite to eat at the outdoor restaurant located at the elevator's exit--one of the city's fanciest. There is no charge to visit this site. Bring a jacket, as it can get fairly breezy on top. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Izmir holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Tarihi Asansor and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Interesting to visit at your arrival to Izmir and historic place. Of course, I live in İzmir, said curious people around is not necessarily an icon that needs to go. His cage, which runs City Hall but not bad. I used to be a restaurant was very good but did not continue, a few friends heard how mediocre the last. Late afternoon to sunset is highly recommended. Great for all views of the watches.

  • You can enjoy the view and drink and/or eat at the cafe/restaurant on the top of the elevator. Some alternative cafes can be found on the road to the lower enterance.
  • In fact, to provide public transportation between the host of üçyol for later brought into a tourist place opened a restaurant really is a asansöt. Although all the opportunity to see the Gulf of izmir, I think a little too overrated place

  • The small street leading to the actual Asansor (Meaning: Elevator in Turkish) is more vibrant than the place itself plus the waiters at the Asansor restaurant were rude and seemed uninterested in service. Not very welcoming (surprisingly) for a foreigner!
  • Amazing view and a quite place. The elevator is free of charge. There is a small Park up the elevator where you can enjoy a tremendous view of Gulf of Izmir. Nothing fancy though. It's much more simple than Istanbul's stunning views.
  • A nice cafe sits on top of an elevator which takes you high enough to see some stunning views of Izmir. A must viait place for the experience.
  • great view of my city. not so expensive, tasty turkish coffee on the top.
  • Amazing view of izmir. Tho izmir is city of blocks no green left.
