Saat Kulesi (Clock Tower), Izmir

(4.3/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
View the Ottoman-style tower that has come to represent the city at Saat Kulesi (Clock Tower). Built in 1901 to mark the 25th anniversary of Abdülhamid II's reign, the 25 m (85 ft) high tower was then gifted to the city by the German Emperor, Wilhelm II. Notice the Moorish themes of the iron-and-lead structure, and the four fountains that are aligned around the base. The town's prominent landmark rises from one of the main pedestrian spaces, Konak Square, so check out the surrounding shops or stop to feed the pigeons here. • things to do in the historic Clock Tower Clock period right in the center of the German Emperor Kaiser II. Due to the proximity of the Ottoman-German Wilhelm was said to be present on the Tower II. Abüldhamid's ruling on a variety of symbols to reflect. The concept that both sides just below the coat of arms of the two sides had Ottoman tugra. Praising the Republican age, reminiscent of the Ottomans and the removal of the signs and symbols of the article, after the law coat of arms and tughra are etched, ay-stars.

  • Symbol that comes to mind when Izmir is one of doing. Mytilini used to be although it is now a little inland. Inglis has a memory in everyone's memory. Also worth seeing is doing aesthetic.

  • Nice clock tower 25 meters high, in Konak square. One of the last structures of the Ottoman empire, since the beginning of the 20th century. Relaxing atmosphere, go for a walk. Recommended._
  • Landmark of the city. A must. Some historic parts of the clock has been stolen during the post coup attempt protests. A pity.
  • Nice square with lots of stores. Close to the boats you can use to cross the bay to the other side of Izmir. Here is also the fameous Ottoman Clock Tower which uses as a symbol of Izmir.
  • Very nice square at Konak, very near Izmir water front. Full of people, locals and tourists. At night the Clock Tower is beautifully lit.
  • One of the most beautiful city in Turkey. I really like this place. And I advise you to visit :)
