Saat Kulesi (Clock Tower), Izmir
(4.3/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
View the Ottoman-style tower that has come to represent the city at Saat Kulesi (Clock Tower). Built in 1901 to mark the 25th anniversary of Abdülhamid II's reign, the 25 m (85 ft) high tower was then gifted to the city by the German Emperor, Wilhelm II. Notice the Moorish themes of the iron-and-lead structure, and the four fountains that are aligned around the base. The town's prominent landmark rises from one of the main pedestrian spaces, Konak Square, so check out the surrounding shops or stop to feed the pigeons here. • This is one of the most famous and historical place to see in Izmir. One must see and feel the air at surrounding area.
  • Saat Kulesi is a beautiful monument and a must see, however, the area around it is more than wonderful. You need at least 4-5 hours to get a full feeling of that place. Don't miss having coffee at Kiz...  more »

  • Nice clock tower 25 meters high, in Konak square. One of the last structures of the Ottoman empire, since the beginning of the 20th century. Relaxing atmosphere, go for a walk. Recommended._
  • Landmark of the city. A must. Some historic parts of the clock has been stolen during the post coup attempt protests. A pity.
  • Nice square with lots of stores. Close to the boats you can use to cross the bay to the other side of Izmir. Here is also the fameous Ottoman Clock Tower which uses as a symbol of Izmir.
  • Very nice square at Konak, very near Izmir water front. Full of people, locals and tourists. At night the Clock Tower is beautifully lit.
  • One of the most beautiful city in Turkey. I really like this place. And I advise you to visit :)
