Where to stay in Istanbul

The bustling downtown core of old Istanbul is the popular choice among tourists wanting a short walking distance to the city's biggest attractions. Here you'll find hostel-style accommodations and reasonably priced and traditionally decorated hotels, as well as bed and breakfasts and inns with views overlooking the sea. Though often the most affordable, accommodations in the old city can be very overrun with tourists and street solicitors. If you seek a more relaxed stay, consider lodging near Taksim Square. This new, trendy neighborhood is a short 15-20 minute ride from the old city, but puts you closer to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Though the newer area of the city is a bit more upscale, you'll also find moderately priced hotels and some hostels. Look for luxury hotels in the western suburbs close to the airport, overlooking the banks of Bosphorus.

  • Nice place to have a fun or do shopping. It is crowded during the weekends but they will inform if so when purchasing your ticket. Get fast pass :p
  • Kids and teenager will definitely enjoy it, but don't expect much as a middle age woman or man. At the end of the day it served its main audience very well. As for the price that many people criticize, it may be a bit expensive compared to prices in Istanbul in general, but if you compare it to other amusement parks (in other countries) with the same caliber, I think it is quite on the cheaper side.
  • Great place, for children and adults as well! To get there, go to Taksim next to the big flag and you'll see the ViaLand bus waiting. What we didnt like is the time that we had to wait before taking of. Clarify the timeline with the driver before paying.
  • I went here in the summer of 2015 so it may have changed since then but it was gorgeous! Shopping centers in Turkey, specifically Istanbul, are completely different from what we have in US. You don't even have to go there for shopping, it is a great experience just walking around. The architecture of the shops are great for insta-worthy photos! The store options are great too, they have a lot of stores that weren't easy to find in Ankara.
  • Must do activity in Istanbul. Roller coasters rides are very good. Compare to Ferrari world they need to upgrade their technology. Park is in open so beware of weather also.
