Sehzade Mehmet Mosque, Istanbul

4.7
#26 of 141 in Historic Sites in Istanbul
Admire the 16th-century Ottoman imperial design of Sehzade Mehmet Mosque, built as a memorial to the son of a sultan. As you enter the site, you'll first tour the outer courtyard with a fountain. Continue inside and look up to view a ceiling with five domes, each beautifully decorated in typical Turkish symmetrical patterns. Wear conservative clothing when you visit, and be sure to take a walk around the peaceful gardens surrounding the building. Another good piece of master architect Sinan dah. Sehzadebasi mosque this mosque is also known as a pretty big garden. Especially in warm weather, sit in the shade of the trees, find peace here is a very great pleasure. In General, the local visitors to stroll around this pretty radical mosque and a beautiful experience to pray here.

Less tourists and is located in the heart of Istanbul is very favorable conditions, but famous things to compare. It's a waste! Storm came in, did not not a soul. We have enjoyed attention thanks to the beautiful ceiling motif. It was compared to the fury of the outside in an unforgettable experience. A corner in a corner of the mosque, separated by a partition. It was a place of worship for women. Please note to prevent men.

  • Near to beyazit tramvaystation and also laleli ist univ metro station. So beautiful mosque but its not as crowded as sultanahmet mosque
  • Sehzade Mosque is Ottoman mosque located in Fatih District .Built by great architect Mimar Sinan and first masterpiece of classical architecture in 1548.
  • One of Mimar Sinan Masterpiece, had 2 minarets, one of them is beautifully carved
  • Restful and less touristic dans its neighbor (soleyman). This imperial mosque is a must see
  • One of the historical mosques in the area and it's very calm and not very crowded. Also it's built by Mimar Sinan as many mosques in Istanbul are.

Where to stay in Istanbul

The bustling downtown core of old Istanbul is the popular choice among tourists wanting a short walking distance to the city's biggest attractions. Here you'll find hostel-style accommodations and reasonably priced and traditionally decorated hotels, as well as bed and breakfasts and inns with views overlooking the sea. Though often the most affordable, accommodations in the old city can be very overrun with tourists and street solicitors. If you seek a more relaxed stay, consider lodging near Taksim Square. This new, trendy neighborhood is a short 15-20 minute ride from the old city, but puts you closer to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Though the newer area of the city is a bit more upscale, you'll also find moderately priced hotels and some hostels. Look for luxury hotels in the western suburbs close to the airport, overlooking the banks of Bosphorus.
