Pierre Loti Tepesi, Istanbul

(4.3/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Take a break from busy sightseeing with a visit to Pierre Loti Tepesi, the place where the locals go to relax and soak in a magnificent view of the city. The hill overlooking the Golden Horn is named after a French novelist and naval officer, the author of the semi-autobiographical novel "Aziyade" in which he described the city. On the hilltop, in addition to the scenic views and peaceful surroundings for walking, you can also find a good selection of coffeehouses and restaurants, many of which offer the authentic atmosphere of old Istanbul. If you're not driving, use the cable car to reach the viewpoint; it operates from the foot of the hill. Take a look at our Istanbul vacation generator to schedule your visit to Pierre Loti Tepesi and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • The present Turkey cannot feel, not having visited Istanbul. Not acquainted with Istanbul, can only be a stretch to claim that you are familiar with Turkey. For me, one of the few places in Istanbul, where you can feel calm and appeasement is the coffee house "Pierre Loti". Without a doubt, one of the most famous among the cafes and restaurants in Istanbul. It is situated on the terrace at the top of the hill near the Golden Horn Bay. The coast leads cableway length of almost 400 metres. Café got its name from the French writer Louis Marie Julien Vio, creative pseudonym which was Pierre Loti. This tiny hut-a very ancient institution. Coffee shop, which was considered very romantic here spot))) a coffee shop is located in the District of Eyüp, excellent transport availability. If you climb to the funicular railway from Eyüp, you will find yourself in a large garden at the top of the mountain with great views of the Golden Horn, the Blue Mosque and the promenade the Golden. A number of Turks will play traditional backgammon. A little refreshment can be in many tea and coffee houses. Local people say that you can go into any-did not regret it. Were in a snowy winter January, many Café were closed, however, this did not prevent us to enjoy a great place to drink hot coffee, warm up by the fire, experience the unique authentic atmosphere. A place worthy of a visit! Modernity and ancient history-create stunning cocktail of emotions, feelings and impressions in Istanbul))))))))))

  • If you are not going to go for a special occasion if you do not have a lot. In Istanbul, where you can find much more pretty city views. Environment, employees are mediocre.

  • We came here while in Istanbul. It is a very nice place to enjoy coffee or tea. Very crowded on weekends. The view is very nice but not spectacular. Still worth the visit by the cable car which costs 4 TL each.
  • Good view and you can eat ( fatayer ) and drink tea only .. I like this place
  • good place for taking photos of golden horn. you use thr t-rope from eyup sultan to climb the piere loti hill.
  • Perfect Location of an evening out from Istanbul Busy City
  • A good view, but not worth the time to get there. Especially since there is nothing to do at the top of this hill and no restaurant worthy of the name... Feel free to skip this.
