Pierre Loti Tepesi, Istanbul

4.2
Take a break from busy sightseeing with a visit to Pierre Loti Tepesi, the place where the locals go to relax and soak in a magnificent view of the city. The hill overlooking the Golden Horn is named after a French novelist and naval officer, the author of the semi-autobiographical novel "Aziyade" in which he described the city. On the hilltop, in addition to the scenic views and peaceful surroundings for walking, you can also find a good selection of coffeehouses and restaurants, many of which offer the authentic atmosphere of old Istanbul. If you're not driving, use the cable car to reach the viewpoint; it operates from the foot of the hill. Before you visit Istanbul, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

  • Go and see that I said the view is available. Hill CSE. Prices are not too salty. Restrooms filthy. And they changed the name of this place because bitlizi Ibekwe. The new name is too turiştik.

  • Most frequently appears in the film a curious Hill yeşilçam. I wish it was better quality businesses bırakılsay. Municipal restaurants and service-quality locations, and the flavor is zero. It is also very good, isn't as worried about the genius of no views. Also you feel yourself, Arabia. Not to mention the problem of finding a parking spot. Unnecessary ...

  • We came here while in Istanbul. It is a very nice place to enjoy coffee or tea. Very crowded on weekends. The view is very nice but not spectacular. Still worth the visit by the cable car which costs 4 TL each.

Where to stay in Istanbul

The bustling downtown core of old Istanbul is the popular choice among tourists wanting a short walking distance to the city's biggest attractions. Here you'll find hostel-style accommodations and reasonably priced and traditionally decorated hotels, as well as bed and breakfasts and inns with views overlooking the sea. Though often the most affordable, accommodations in the old city can be very overrun with tourists and street solicitors. If you seek a more relaxed stay, consider lodging near Taksim Square. This new, trendy neighborhood is a short 15-20 minute ride from the old city, but puts you closer to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Though the newer area of the city is a bit more upscale, you'll also find moderately priced hotels and some hostels. Look for luxury hotels in the western suburbs close to the airport, overlooking the banks of Bosphorus.
