  • It is a majestic monument, which stands in the Hippodrome. It comes from Luxor in Egypt and dates back to 1500 b.c. To have 3500 it is in very good condition and the reliefs are in perfect condition. It is worth paying attention to the pedestal where the Obelisk dating 390, the date in which the Obelisk was moved from Egypt to Constantinople is supported. The Obelisk is outdoors, you don't have to buy tickets, available 24 hours, surrounds it with a small park with benches. It is within walking distance of the Blue Mosque.

  • The tourist centre par excellence of Istanbul, is the square of the racetrack, you will find a series of monuments churches and museums that make it take 100% of the visits. As well an of the monuments that distinguish easily, is the Obelisk of Theodosius. Although it does not reach the height of the woven column, because only a score of meters rises. By its unique history as for its beauty, it is protagonist of the Plaza. The Obelisk is a gift from the people of Alexandria to Constantinople by the treatment of the inhabitants, to the ships that docked in the port of the current Istanbul. It was originally raised in the Temple of Hiyeropolis of Egypt in honor of the Pharaoh Thutmose III, who made carve on the poetically, the attained victories. Thus the target comes to glorify in any way, the Egyptian victories in Turkish territory. It is not known if it was that, the reason for their forgetfulness, because it was a long shot and must be abandoned. The case is, that the Emperor Theodosius, was the promoter of its current location and made him stand on a marble pedestal with inscriptions in Greek and latin, and reliefs relating to your person and family. If you are visiting Istanbul, observe it carefully, is worth,
